In the past we would allow our vet to send our deceased cats off to a large crematory for supposedly private cremations. But we were always uncertain that the ashes returned to us were truly those of our companions.

At Rainbow Bridge, John gave us an incredible gift by allowing us to attend the cremation process for two of our sweet senior cats who recently died within a week of each other. He treated us like friends and answered all of our questions.

The wooden urns he supplies are also beautiful and unique.

For us there was enormous closure and comfort in attending this final process, and as mentioned, peace of mind from the certainty that these ashes are theirs. We absolutely recommend Rainbow Bridge to any grieving pet owner.

We recently lost our beloved Westie, Coco. Other than the family dog when I was a child, Coco was my only dog, so losing him was really difficult. I am so happy I found Rainbow Bridge Pet Services. Zane was so compassionate and understanding while explaining the process and options available to me in my sudden unexpected time of need. I didn’t want to leave my little fur girl (or her ashes) in the hands of the USPS, which all other places I called would do. RBPS was very respectful and empathetic. I chose to observe the process and I was able to bring home the ashes the same day. John and staff gave me a way to say goodbye properly and start to heal. I wish I could say I will never need these services again but I am an animal lover and it is highly probable that I will eventually add another fur kid to my life. Since we are only blessed with pups for a small portion of our own life, I would absolutely use RBPS in the future because it really felt like the process gave me a path forward at a time I felt so empty and sad. I highly recommend RBPS for anyone faced with having to say goodbye to a dearly loved pet. Thank you RBPS for caring about the pet parents just as much as you care about the lost pets.

Rainbow Bridge was fantastic and caring during such a difficult time. They were able to retrieve my pet with no notice early in the morning on a Sunday, and his remains were delivered to my home the next day in a beautiful box with a pawprint keepsake and some hair – neither of which I remembered to ask for, but was very thankful that they provided. Although I would love to never need their services, I would definitely use Rainbow Bridge again and would recommend to anyone who has to say goodbye to their fur babies.

Excellent considering the circumstances i.e losing a beloved pet. Mr. Lender was very thoughtful and provided a very special service for us in a tough time. Within an hour of calling, he had reached out and discussed options for our puglette. I would recommend his services for anyone looking for individual pet cremation. He does offer pickup and drop-off services, but I chose to make the beautiful drive with our girl. Honestly, I didn’t do a cost comparison, but don’t think the fee was expensive for the peace of mind I had. Thank you.

My fiancé’s 20 year old cat passed away suddenly. Rainbow bridge was so helpful in walking me through the process of laying our baby to rest. I was showed around and explained everything about how the process worked. I was even allowed to stay if I wanted to. I would highly recommend these guys and will be using them in the hopefully not soon future.

Our 14 year old pup passed away June 6th. Even though she had been sick for some time we were still devastated when it actually happened. We had not made any arrangements for her…denial, I guess. We reached out to Mr. John Lender at Rainbow Bridge in Leesburg. He promptly took care of my baby and showed more empathy and sympathy than did our veterinarian of 20 plus years. I highly recommend Mr. Lender at Rainbow Bridge to anyone who looses a pet and want them to be taken care of with respect, dignity, and love.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Rainbow Bridge Pet Services. We made the difficult decision to help our beloved dog cross the Rainbow Bridge. After the vet left the house, John came and collected her body. Less than 24 hours later he returned to our house with a beautiful hand-carved urn containing her ashes. We also received a little plastic baggy with some of her fur, a small vial with some of her ashes and a paw print. John was very professional and comforting during a very difficult time of loss for our family. Highly recommend.

Thanks John for your kind words and the best service any grieving fur parents can ask for. We never thought we’d lose our lil Pouchi boo so quickly and unexpectedly. We knew of another cremation service 10 minutes from us but chose to call John anyway even though he is an hour away from us. He got to our house in no time and allowed us to pick her ashes up on the same day in the beautiful urn he provided. We feel so comforted knowing Pouchi was treated with respect and utmost care. Definitely recommending his service.

We greatly appreciate he care and help provided by Mr. Lender when we had to make quick plans as our almost 13 year old beloved Shelby the Labrador passed over a weekend, very quickly and during the COVID-19 Pandemic when services everywhere were limited, even at the vet. We already knew here were only a few places that will guarantee a private and individual cremation for pets. Mr. Lender is so professional, he understand the business, and the needs of those going through this process. We greatly appreciate the extra time he spent with us. You feel a great deal of confidence that you loved pet is being treated with dignity and respect. The presentation and return of the friend is very lovely and comforting.

My dog Lucky ( German Shepherd) passed suddenly on a early Sunday evening. I chose Rainbow Bridge Pet Services. Our family members don’t pass away on  business hours. Rainbow Bridge offers 24/7 service. The fees were very reasonable for the exceptional service we received. There is a transportation fee if you want your pet picked up. I was in no shape to bring Lucky to them. The person who picked up my baby was great. He was caring, compassionate and professional.

Carol, the point of contact the whole time was great too. She was caring and explained everything that was happening. I didn’t feel like a number, I felt like a person. They cremate same day and he was home a day later to us. The urn is beautiful, the vial of ashes, for jewelry, rainbow bridge poem, his very detailed cemented paw print and his hair was great, but made me cry more. Lucky had a private cremation (no others with him).Rainbow Bridge Pet Services offered exceptional services for my furry family member. It is a hard time, but they took a little stress out of it.

John’s services were amazing. He was very thoughtful and easy to talk to about the entire process. He made sure I knew the differences between different types of cremation even when I was thinking about going elsewhere because he was a bit far from my home. So, my hamster died recently and I didn’t want to bury her. She was my husband and I’s first hamster and we really loved her. We tend to move a lot so I wanted to have her cremated so she is always with us. I called rainbow bridge and they were SO nice to us. We dropped her off the day of her passing and picked her ashes up the following evening. The box is beautiful, the certificate/paperwork all looked great. They offered to try and make a paw print but it didn’t work out. I mean, a hamsters little hand is the size of your pinky nail. So I wasn’t surprised but, I was grateful for the effort. We had to put our kitty to sleep somewhat unexpectedly. Placed a call from the vet’s exam room, and they promised to pick up our boy later that day. The next day, I was able to pick up the beautiful hand carved urn. They also supply a fur clipping and an extra vial of ashes if someone special to your pet wants to take away a keepsake. But really the best part was that our sweet Pinky didn’t have to go in the vet’s freezer to await pickup. Thank you, Rainbow Bridge, for that little bit of dignity.

I just wanted to take the time to say thank you to John and Carol. I have never had to say goodbye to a pet before. Peaches was the closest to my heart because her mother abandoned her at two weeks. I took her in, bottle fed her and raised her for a year and two months. She was my baby and it was unbelievably hard to say goodbye. My friend had searched where to get her cremated and after reviewing a few places, she said she thought this one would be best. I absolutely agree with her. After meeting with Carol and having a brief heart to heart I knew that her and John would take the best care of Peaches. I was right. Not only were they so compassionate and understanding, they also walked me through everything and reassured me that it would be all right. When I went to go pick up Peaches, she was in a beautiful wooden box carved with flowers, wrapped in tissue paper so nicely. They also gave me a little vial of her ashes with a pink bow tied to it.  I had asked for her paw print and they didn’t even hesitate and granted me all my wishes. Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy, but with Carol and John’s phenomenal service, it made it more comforting. They also gave me a beautiful card that explained where my precious baby is and how she will be waiting for me so we can cross the Rainbow Bridge together. I am eternally grateful for such kind-hearted people to have taken care of my love. All I know is that as their time comes, I will take all my beloved pets to John and Carol. You will not regret bringing your loved ones to Rainbow Bridge.

We were caught off guard that our guinea pig, “Charlie” was sick (He was fine one day, and the next day, he was gone.). Our daughter was absolutely devastated by his quick passing. Our five-year-old Guinea pig, Charlie, past away and we called Carol with Rainbow Bridge. I could not believe the level of care and compassion that she shared with our Family. Just to let you know, Kiki passing was so hard for us. I don’t even understand why, she was our pet or so I thought, but really she was a family member we loved so much. My sweet Simon died in my arms! I texted my wonderful vet, Doctor Conway, she insisted I use Rainbow Bridge Pet Services! She told me not to let anyone else handle Simon. Carol was excellent on the phone. You know they love all animals just by speaking with them. John was here two hours later on an early Sunday morning. He was kind, empathetic and understanding. I had Simon back the next day. John personally brought him to me. Rainbow Bridge only does private pet cremation so I was assured that it was Simon in that beautiful hand-carved box. This second time living in VA that I lost a pet. The price is excellent, much less than the vet’s office. They will pick up within a 30 mile radius at your home or vet’s office. Simon didn’t go in a freezer. He was cremated the same day. Just knowing knowing he was handled with respect and dignity gave me comfort. I had him since he was 6 weeks old he died at 18 years. I owed it to him to give him the proper cremation, and John Lender of Rainbow Bridge came through!

Carol’s voice on the other line was such a comfort and she made the process of setting up the cremation very personal and easy for me. She even managed to make me smile and laugh a bit the night I spoke with her. John drove from their place of business to my home in Herndon, VA the very next morning and he was just as Carol described–extremely caring. His smile and warm heart were such a welcome, and he took so much care when taking Willow away. Carol and John, you felt like family, not just a business. Thank you Carol, everything worked out today. I didn’t realize how much having Trixy’s ashes here with us would mean to us. We could still talk to her and feel her close by. The lock of hair was impressive, looked so different than the fur I find around the house.

We appreciate John’s effort to keep a spot in the lock. And the vial was another nice touch. We opened it up on where her favorite spots were and settled on the sound side of Cape Hatteras, where she use to hop like a bunny through the 2 feet of standing water.

We weren’t ready to say goodbye, but now we have. We thank you and John for helping us through.

I will go ahead and tell you now that you don’t need to follow up with us in a few days unless you just really want to. You not only met our expectations, you exceeded them tremendously.

This was such a difficult loss for us, although not necessarily unexpected. I was looking over Piglet’s vet records last night and I saw that in 2011 the vet estimated her age to be 16 based on her teeth. If that’s accurate she lived to be almost 22. We knew she wouldn’t live forever, but it was so hard to say goodbye. Your compassion and caring made a really difficult situation much less difficult.

We were so moved by the beautiful wood urn with the cat carving on top and the beautiful way her ashes were preserved. The little vial of ashes made me cry because now I am able to keep her near me all the time. The very sweet way the certificate was worded touched our hearts. To read that Piglet was honored with a private cremation helped to reaffirm what we already felt about your services; that you are animal lovers and would care for our beautiful girl as if she was your own. The paw print is perfect and we will treasure it forever.

However, the one thing that moved me beyond words was the bag containing Piglet’s hair. I had cut some of her hair myself before John picked her up, but not anywhere near the amount you returned to us. I am an avid scrap-booker and I have a whole album dedicated to our animals. In that album I have a plastic pocket containing the hair of our beloved first dog, Jackson. When I saw the hair that you guys had saved for us, I knew for certain that Piglet was treated with the utmost honor and respect by you and John. I knew you would treat her like that, but when I saw the preserved hair I realized just how important your work is to you. You thought to save something for me that only a genuine animal lover would think to save. I realized that your love and compassion extended to our family. You not only treasured our beautiful, sweet girl, you helped our hearts to begin to heal.

As soon as I am ready I will definitely send pictures to memorialize Piglet. I will also shout from the rooftops how overjoyed we are with your service. I can’t imagine that your job is easy, but it is absolutely necessary. You provide a vital service to animal lovers and you provide it with a tremendous amount of love and compassion. We will be forever grateful and we will always recommend you to everyone.

With 3 dogs, 8 cats, and an eternal devotion to rescuing animals, I know we will need you again in the future, and we will definitely contact you when that time comes. However, as touched as we have been by everything you’ve done, I must say I hope and pray that it will be a long time before we need you again!

We pray for a wonderful Christmas for all of you and all of God’s blessings for you, your families, and your staff in the new year. Thank you again for everything!

On Tuesday, March 1, I arrived home a little late and Ramon was not in the foyer. I called his name and clapped my hands but no response. I went upstairs just to find him lying dead on the floor. He was fine that morning before I left for work and I said BYE- BYE to him. I have no clue why he died like this. It was the most traumatic and emotionally devastating experience I had ever been through. I didn’t know what to do with the dead body. I cried a whole ocean of tears. Thanks God for my son and his girlfriend being there when I was in desperate need.

While I had an adrenaline rush, I googled pet cremation on the internet and found Rainbow Bridge Pet Services. We drove him there on that day. Upon our arrival, John Lender, the owner was there to greet us and he expressed his condolences for the loss of my dog. Then he gave us a tour of the VIP Dog Boarding Kennel facility. Really champ! He answered all of our questions about the kennel and cremation. I really appreciate his patience with us, the deaf customers. I was fortunate to have my son who is hard of hearing interpret for us all. John was so kind and generous.

Rainbow Bridge Pet Crematory Services was there for me when I knew my lovely Norwich Terrier was ready for her eternal hunting grounds. I had known about the family operated business in NVA for some time and had heard A+ remarks about how professional and compassionate they were. Losing a pet can be such an over whelming emotion. I wanted Ahsie to be taken into knowledgeable hands and I also wanted her treated with the greatest level of kindness and respect and that is just what Rainbow Bridge did for us.

The process with Rainbow Ridge from beginning to end went very smoothly and she was back with me within 24 hours. They took care of every detail and did a beautiful job of creating a gift that represented how loved and important Ahsie was to me. The whole presentation was Lovely. A hand carved rosewood box came with tiny glass bottles tied with silk bows of her token remains, an envelope of her hair and a certificate. The whole presentation was perfect and so greatly appreciated by me. Then a few days later a card came in the mail acknowledging her loss and their thoughts of me. Rainbow Bridge Pet Crematory Services surpassed my highest expectations and I can’t thank or recommend them more highly.

I would like to personally thank Rainbow Bridge Pet Services for taking care of my boy, Blue, back on December 20th. This boy was a rescue dog of mine and he had been through so much in the past year, between battling and beating heartworms to finding an amazing home to call his own and being able to have his own kids to play with daily. Then I got a call that something was wrong, he wasn’t acting right. I went to visit him and I knew right away – something was going on. After speaking to the vet and evaluating his behaviors and mannerisms, we knew this was the start of a brain tumor or brain cancer. At that time, I knew I had to let him go. This boy meant the world to me. I rescued him twice from horrible situations and I wanted nothing but the best for him. I set up an appointment at my vet to have him humanely euthanized, surrounded by people who loved him and by people he loved.

I was given the option to use the cremation company that the vet already used but that seemed a bit pricey. Plus it would take up to a week or so to get the remains back. I’ve been through this before. You grieve, and just when you think you are going to have a day without crying, then you get a call saying your remains are back, to come pick them up. Or worse yet, I’ve come home to have the remains sitting on my front porch. I couldn’t go through that again. It‘s too hard!

So I decided to research local cremation companies. This is when I came across Rainbow Bridge Pet Services. Their website says they offer same-day pickup service of the pet and next day return delivery. I contacted them right way and I knew from the moment I spoke to Carol, that this company would be able to help me make this process easier. I told them what time my vet appointment was and we arranged a time for them to meet me at the vet’s office. They came in on time and although I was not finished saying good bye, they gave me as much time as I needed. I never felt rushed at all. They respectfully sat out in the lobby waiting for myself and my friends to say our good byes. When it was time for them to come in and take my boy away, I decided to stay in the room to give him one last kiss. They came in and were so respectful to myself and my dog; they had so much compassion in their eyes while getting my boy ready for transport. I honestly could not think of a more respectful way for us to say good bye. The staff at Rainbow Bridge helped me with that. And to top it off, John personally delivered my dog’s remains to me the very next day. He came inside a beautiful wooden box in a velvet bag, along with a cremation certificate.

Rainbow Bridge Pet Services will always hold a special place in my heart. As much as I hate to say this, I know I will need your services again in the future and I’ll be sure to call! Your professionalism and respect for the animals is top notch and something I’ll never forget!

The very next day Theodore’s cremains were personally delivered to us in a pretty wooden box along with a paw print and a lock of Theodore’s long hair.
